About Us

Porter Bank is comprised of three offices in Porter, Chesterton and The Pines employing about 35 people. We are dedicated to our community and have been serving it for 102 years! We offer a wide variety of careers from entry level on the Teller Line, Customer Service, and New Accounts to more advanced in our Loan, Compliance, and Operations Departments. Teller

 Description: Provide professional, courteous service to and interact directly with customers by processing banking transactions, cross-selling products and services, and assisting with customer questions. Ensure the security of customer information, assets, and bank operations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in cash handling
  • Computer proficiency
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal and Credit Check

 

Schedule & Benefits:

  • Full Time Monday through Friday and some Saturdays (until Noon)
  • Paid Holidays and Sick Days
  • 2 Weeks paid vacation after 1 year

 

New Account Representative

 Description: This position oversees all aspects of new Customer and Deposit account services and serves as a key point of contact, requiring a high level of professionalism, accuracy, and efficiency. Additional responsibilities related to new accounts and other bank operations are included.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior Banking experience
  • Efficient usage of Microsoft Office products
  • Telephone etiquette
  • Strong communication skills-verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must pass criminal and credit checks

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Open, Revise and Close Deposit Accounts, Money Market and IRA’s for both Consumer and Business accounts.
  • Oversee accounts opened Online through our Website.
  • Oversee weekly CD Rates, specials and survey and distribute to bank personnel.
  • Maintain the lobby rate board, update rate sheet and post internally. Communicate rate changes for updates in software, website and phone line.
  • Answer switchboard calls.
  • Monitor New Accounts Reports.
  • Manage 1099INT for promotions on products and redeemed US Savings Bonds.
  • Reporting of charged off accounts.
  • Assist in Teller Function as needed: Vault Teller, Branch Capture, assisting Customers.
  • Oversee and review production of documentation for Subpoenas, Garnishments, Orders, Levies, received from Courts, IRS or other sources and prepare responses.
  • Notarize papers for Customers.
  • Duties or assignments that may be asked of or appointed to as necessary, that are important to the operation of the Department or Bank.
  • Proactively promote the Bank’s products and Service.
Credit Analyst / Underwriter

 Description:  An integral position in the lending process; this individual is responsible for analyzing credit and financial reports to determine the risk involved in extending credit and with monitoring credit relationships. An Underwriter performs an independent analysis of the credit worthiness of applicants for recommendation of approval or denial. Performs various other tasks in preparation and maintenance of loan files. Prepares monthly reports for monitoring risks, evaluation of processes and reporting to appropriate committees and the board.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 Years Lending or Credit Analysis Software experience
  • Knowledge of Financial Statements (Income Statements, Balance Sheet, etc.) and Tax Return documents – personal and corporate
  • Post secondary education in finance, accounting, or similar
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Strong Organizational Skills and Attention to Detail

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform credit analysis on new loan requests and client annual reviews
  • Maintain/monitor credit analysis software/system
  • Attend Loan Committee as invited for presentation of annual reviews, reports, etc.
  • Property Inspections
  • Perform Annual Commercial Credit Reviews
  • New Loan input and File Maintenance requests on Core System
  • Assist in the preparation of Commitment Letters for Commercial Loans
  • Lending compliance responsibilities
  • Other Duties or assignments that may be asked of or appointed to as necessary, that are important to the operation of the Department or Bank.
